A NEW LOGO FOR OKCYHA

As we near the end of the 2009/2010 fall hockey season, I want to bring you up to speed with what’s new inside OKCYHA. Your OKCYHA board is presently in the process of working to identify a new logo for OKCYHA and we need your valuable input. The PR Director has been working hard over the last several weeks to obtain logos for everyone to view and the players vote on. Many of you may have seen the logos either on the website or on a poster at the rinks. Selecting a logo that “everyone” likes is no easy task. On behalf of your board I am soliciting input (in the form of suggestions not complaints) from you regarding a new logo for OKCYHA.  If you don’t particularly like any of the logos submitted thus far then feel free to send your idea(s) to the PR Director at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We want to Brand OKCYHA and market our association in a manner that reflects a quality, kid friendly professional youth hockey program. The idea with selecting a new logo for OKCYHA is to give our hockey association its own brand or identity in order to make OKCYHA more marketable with multiple corporate sponsors in the near future. The branding and sponsorships are all to make youth hockey in OKC more affordable.

There are lots of positive changes taking place with OKCYHA that are necessary to propel OKC youth hockey into the future. Your OKCYHA board members are committed to providing a fun, affordable, and memorable experience for every child who laces up a pair of hockey skates and steps on the ice in OKC. We need your support as we work toward accomplishing that goal while at the same time strive to increase the growth of youth hockey in OKC.

In other OKCYHA news, welcome to Paul Mariconda - Referee Coordinator and Mike McEwen - Director of Coaches for OKCYHA.

Remember, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS.

See you at the Rink!

Mike Hoskins, President
OKCYHA

Rule Change for Goalie Equipment in 2009-10

The attached document covers the rule change for goalie equipment effective for the 2009-10 season. Appendix V provides specific dimensions for approved goalie equipment .
Please forward this to all of your teams, goalies, parents and coaches.  Please note that the correct dimensions are outlined on the last 2 pages of the attached document and the drawings actually indicate the old dimensions that were allowed.  This information is from USA Hockey and it will be enforced this season so please make sure your goalies are notified.
